Montana Highway Patrol is seeing an elevated number of crashes lately and wants to remind drivers to slow down this holiday.
One of the factors contributing to the increase in crashes is because of drivers using cruise control.
Bridges may be icy and driving at a high rate of speed with cruise control can cause skidding and loss of control.
Be sure to slow down on curves where black ice may be present.
Montana Highway Patrol Captain Gary Becker says, "Assume that the road is icy and that in shaded areas you're going to have ice and snow pack there and the conditions will change so slow down before you get into those conditions and drive cautiously."
Captain Becker says be sure you're vehicle has good tires and is ready for winter conditions.
