A Black Eagle man has been charged with several felonies after allegedly assaulting a Cascade County Sheriff's deputy with a spiked bat on Nov. 15.

Curtis Wayne Stanley, Jr. is charged with two counts of felony assault with a weapon, two counts of felony assault on a peace officer, a misdemeanor count of obstructing a peace officer, and misdemeanor criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court documents state that a sheriff's deputy went to a residence on Montana Avenue on Thursday, Nov. 15 in order to perform a court-ordered eviction.

Stanley reportedly peered through a window, saw the deputy and refused to answer the door.

A second deputy and the property manager were then called to the residence by the first officer.

When the deputies unlocked the door, they discovered that it was blocked by something. One of the deputies had to push open the door using his shoulder.

After entering the residence, the deputies were confronted by Stanley who came into the living room holding a metal baseball bat with spikes attached to it.

Court documents state that Stanley was about five feet away from the deputies, and they pointed their guns at him and ordered him to drop the bat.

After "several tense minutes," Stanley dropped the bat; he was then taken into custody.

Stanley has a conviction in Cascade County for burglary, and is currently on probation for that offense.

He also has several misdemeanor convictions for partner/family member assault, criminal trespass and obstructing a peace officer.
