Lottery officials say that there are only about 8,200 tickets left for the annual Montana Millionaire game.
This marks the sixth year for the popular game, which features odds of 1 in 130,000 of winning $1 million.
The million-dollar grand prize winning ticket number will be announced on January 1, 2013.
Tickets are selling faster this year than in previous years; Lottery spokewoman Amber Conger says, "I think people are just excited, they're starting to recognize the games, this is our sixth year, and there's just excitement about that, having the guaranteed million-dollar prize."
Daniel Iverson, spokesman for the Montana Lottery, also attributes the increase in sales to added game features including early bird drawings and $500 instant winners.
Iverson noted, "Any time you buy a ticket you have the chance to win $500 right on the spot and still be eligible for the other drawings as well, so we have added a lot of value to the game, and we have heard a great response from our players and our retailers that that is being a positive thing for the game. And we have had several $500 instant winners already."
As of Friday afternoon, there are 8,236 tickets left to be sold.
