The Montana Lottery has launched its annual "Montana Millionaire" game.
The grand prize is $1 million dollars, and the winning ticket will be announced on January 1, 2013.
There are only 130,000 tickets available; they will be sold at all Montana Lottery ticket outlets through December 31.
More than 13,000 tickets have been sold since they went on sale nearly two weeks ago; that's about 3,000 more than last year at this time.
Daniel Iverson, spokesman for the Montana Lottery, attributes the increase in sales to added game features including early bird drawings and $500 instant winners.
Iverson noted, "Any time you buy a ticket you have the chance to win $500 right on the spot and still be eligible for the other drawings as well, so we have added a lot of value to the game, and we have heard a great response from our players and our retailers that that is being a positive thing for the game. And we have had several $500 instant winners already.
The first $10,000 early bird drawing is November 23; the second is scheduled for December 14.
