Montana State escaped Greely, Colorado Saturday with a 35-28 victory over a Northern Colorado team that has won just a single game this season. The Bobcats took a 14-0 lead just three minutes into the game, following a Shawn Johnson touchdown, a fumbled kickoff, and a 14 yard pass from DeNarius McGhee to Jon Ellis. The Bears came back to tie, only to give up a kickoff return to Shawn Johnson.
In the third quarter, MSU took a 27-14 lead on a Cody Kirk touchdown, but a blocked punt and a McGhee fumble, allowed Northern Colorado to go ahead 28-27. MSU then marched down the field and Cody Kirk who rushed for 180 yards, scored his second touchdown with a 22 yard run. The Bobcat defense then held Northern Colorado on fourth down to clinch the victory.
