BILLINGS - Montana State Women's Prison warden Jo Acton - who's been the warden at the women's prison since 1995, has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Department of Corrections spokesperson Bob Anez, tells MTN that the administrative leave is the result of a personnel issue.

Anez says Acton was placed on leave effective yesterday. Anez did say there is no definitive timeline on how long Warden Acton may be on administrative leave.

According to the Montana Department of Corrections website the overall goal of Montana Women's Prison is to provide incarcerated women an opportunity to develop the necessary skills to make positive changes in their thinking, behavior and lifestyle to successfully live as positive and productive citizens after they transition to their home communities.

Montana Women's Prison has a staff of about 90, including 20 contract personnel.
