Anaconda police shot and wounded a 46-year-old Anaconda man after he allegedly tried to run over police with his car while attempting to flee from them today.
According to John Barnes of the Montana Department of Justice, officers were attempting to arrest the man about noon on a warrant for failing to appear for a sentencing on a felony DUI offense. Police found the suspect sitting in a car outside a residence at 1701 Lost Creek Road just north of Anaconda.
While attempting to flee the scene, Barnes reports the suspect drove his car directly at police in an attempt to hit them with the vehicle. Officers fired at the suspect and wounded him. The driver was transported to a Missoula hospital.
None of the officers at the scene was injured.
Investigators haven't released the identity of the wounded suspect. More details are expected to be released later today.
