OGDEN, Utah - The honors keep coming in for Montana State athletics. In the same week that the Bobcats' Christian Moon was named the Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week for men's basketball, MSU Track and Field standouts Heather Haug and Jeff Mohl earn the same honor.
Heather, a senior out of Livingston, broke a second program record in as many weeks. After setting a new MSU record in the mile run (4:42.29) two weeks ago at the MSU Invitational, Haug was at it again at the MSU Open, this time in the 800. Her time of 2:09.37, with the altitude adjustment, gave her the new school mark. Both times qualify her for the Big Sky Conference Championships hosted by Montana State in February.
Jeff Mohl won the heptathlon at the Cougar Multis hosted by Washington State. Mohl, who was named the Outstanding Performer in last year's Big Sky Outdoor Championships, tallied a total of 5,452 points in his performance despite injuring his ankle in the final lap of the 1,000m. Mohl is currently ranked seventh in the country in the heptathlon.
