BOZEMAN - Montana State University police are stepping up patrols on campus, especially near family housing units and day care centers, after a report of an attempted abduction on Tuesday night.
Police say it happened near the Paisley Court apartments on Garfield. A man driving a black pickup apparently approached a child and tried to get the child into his truck by offering the child a ride home. The child refused.
The incident is similar to one that happened a few weeks ago near Hyalite Elementary School where a man in a black pickup asked a child to get into his truck. The girl ran away and told a crossing guard.
Both MSU police and Bozeman police are investigating the incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call MSU police at 994-2121.
