Montana State Defensive End Caleb Schreibeis has been named the Buck Buchanan award winner today by the Sports Network as the country's top defensive player. He becomes the first recipient of a major national individual award in program history, and also gives the Big Sky Conference its fourth Buchanan winner in the last six years and its fifth in the last decade.
The Billings native led the entire country, regardless of division, with 8 forced fumbles during the regular season. He also had an unbelievable streak of at least half a sack in every regular season game for the Bobcats. His stat line for the entire 2012 season including playoffs includes 9 tackles, with 24 solos, 15 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, seven quarterback hurries, four pass breakups and eight forced fumbles.
The Sports Network FCS awards banquet is being held tonight in Philadelphia, PA.
