HELENA - A man who was given free pizza to-go after allegedly trying to rob the Papa John's Store on Prospect Avenue in Helena last month, has pleaded not guilty.
David Randall Lacey is charged with attempted robbery for the Jan. 22 incident, where Lacey reportedly asked the store clerk for money from the register, but then broke down crying, saying he didn't want to rob the store, but he had a family to feed.
The clerks said they gave him pizza and wings. Lacey then ran away and was later arrested. It was later reported that Lacey does not have a wife or children.
He appeared in court last week on charges of attempting to sell meth. He remains in jail on a $25,000 bond.
