A multiple vehicle collision on I-90 sends a mom and her two children to the hospital with unknown injuries.
At approximately 3 Saturday afternoon, the driver of a Ford Explorer eastbound on I-90 fell asleep at the wheel, and struck a guard rail, sending him into a Subaru Outback, which careened over the median at Thorpe Road west of Belgrade, and into the embankment below.
Shortly after, the driver of the Subaru, a young mother, and her two children in the back of the car, were transported to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital with unknown injuries. While Highway Patrol Troopers on the scene say the three looked to be in good condition, only a medical evaluation can tell.
According to Trooper Doug Samuelson, however, on thing is clear.
Says Samuelson, "The seatbelt that the adult was wearing and the 2 children being in child safety seats properly restrained definitely saved their lives in this crash."
At this time, it appears the driver of the Explorer suffered no injuries. Trooper Samuelson says it's vital to rest if you feel fatigued when driving, as it is very easy to drift off at a moment's notice.
