Bozeman city leaders hope a new ordinance will mean more parking for shoppers downtown. Last week city commissioners approved a rolling parking rule. The rule is already in effect for downtown streets. It means you will be ticketing for moving your car every two hours to avaqid a ticket. The new ordiance will apply the rolling parking rule to all downtown parking lots.

The hope is that people who work downtown will buy a parking permit for the parking garage which cost between $40-$50 a month, with a discout for an annual pass.

Many people who work downtown say they park several blocks away from where they work to aviod two hour parking restrictions and buying a parking pass.

The City Commission is expected to vote on final passage of the rolling parking ordinance on December 3. It will then go into effect 30 days later.
