MISSOULA - From Washington-Grizzly Stadium to Lucas Oil Field, that's the change of venue for former Griz running back Dan Moore as the Tucson, AZ native has signed a free agent deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
Shortly after the NFL Draft came to a close, the Colts wasted no time in contacting Moore to get a deal done. Moore confirmed to KPAX Sports Reporter Dan Cimmino shortly after 6:00 p.m. that he had signed with Indianapolis and that for a while there, he thought he might be a New York Jet.
Prior to the call from Indy, the Jets had contacted Moore to say they were interested and considered drafting him with their 7th round pick. The Jets went in a different direction selecting full back Tommy Bohannon of Wake Forest.
Moore had visited with the Colts last week and said he felt immediately comfortable with the organization and that he is excited to show what he can bring to the field this upcoming NFL season. Moore's experience and willingness to play special teams has the former Montana bruiser "ready to hit somebody."
We'll hear more on Dan Moore's draft experience tonight on MTN Sports at 10:00.
UPDATE (7:00 p.m.): Sources say former Grizzly offensive lineman Jon Opperud has reached a deal with the Houston Texans.
