PHILIPSBURG - A fallen tree that struck a power line is being blamed for a fire that consumed five homes near Philipsburg this week.
The Rumsey Gulch Fire also destroyed three outbuildings before crews were able to get a handle on it. As of this afternoon, it was 90 percent contained. It is holding at 349 acres.
Cool, wet temperatures are assisting firefighting efforts, according to a news release from the Dillon Interagency Dispatch Center. Rain continues to fall on the blaze.
Two crews were released and more resources are expected to leave the fire on Friday.
