BOZEMAN - This week in our One Class at a Time segment, we traveled to Suzy Wendt's class at Emily Dickinson School and gave $250 for the purchase of a communication app for the iPad.
"We have a few students here who aren't able to verbally communicate their needs. Through this app we will be able to teach them how to use it. As a primary communication device they will be able to tell us if they want a drink of water or if they are not feeling good. It will open a lot of windows for them to be able to communicate with us their needs. We have seen, they actually had a program on 60 Minutes that was talking about a communication app, and I believe that is the same one that we are going to get. We've been trying to find a way to purchase it for our students, so now we can, we're so thankful we could do that," Wendt said.
Each week one local class is awarded $250 from KBZK and First Interstate Bank to purchase classroom materials. Click here to find out more about the program and about how you can nominate a class.
