Deanna Kay Simon and Joshua Michael Simon have been arrested and charged after Great Falls police reportedly found more than one pound of marijuana and more than $6,000 in cash in their hotel room.
On Saturday, August 3rd, officers were called to the LaQuinta Hotel on River Drive South after people reported smelling marijuana.
When police knocked on the door of the hotel room, they heard the toilet flush numerous times.
The people inside the room - later identified as Deanna and Joshua Simon - refused to open the door, and told the police several times "just a minute" and that they were getting their luggage.
The police report states that this went on for 15 to 20 minutes, during which time water ran out from underneath the door of the hotel room, carrying with it "particles of a leafy green substance."
Eventually the Simons came out of the hotel room and were detained on suspicion of possessing marijuana and tampering with evidence.
A police officer discovered what appeared to be a "felony amount" of marijuana in the toilet, and $,6,900 in cash concealed in Deanna's bra.
Both Deanna and Joshua have been charged with criminal distribution of dangerous drugs; tampering with or fabricating physical evidence; criminal trespass to property; and obstructing a peace officer.
