The devastating Pine Creek Fire that burned for weeks last summer in the Paradise Valley was human caused.
According to a Forest Service investigator, the blaze was started by a spark from an excavator.
The fire began on Aug. 29 on private land near East River Road. The fire destroyed five homes and burned about 8,000 acres of land.
The name of the person that started the fire is not being released. Since the fire started on private land, the Forest Service does not have any jurisdiction. The Forest Service conducted the investigation at the request of Park County.
