BOZEMAN - Police are investigating a firearm that was recovered in connection with an incident at Casey's Corner gas station on Ferguson Road early Saturday morning.
While a man claims he thwarted a robbery attempt at Casey's Corner at around 3 p.m. Saturday, Bozeman police Detective Jonathan Barge says there was no attempted robbery. Barge says he is unsure if the person intended to rob the gas station.
A man reported to police that the driver had a gun with which he intended to rob the gas station. The man stated that he then grabbed the gun and hit the other man in the head with it.
The person riding in the car claims he escaped unharmed with the weapon and stowed it under a bridge.
Barge could not confirm the man's claims, but did say that a gun was recovered.
There is no one in custody at this time in connection with the incident, which occurred between 3 and 6 a.m. Saturday, Barge said.
