With a resurgent building market, Southwest Montana home builders are showing their wares during the annual Parade of Homes event.
At a home on O'Connell Drive, Adrian Vaughn of Von Construction said, "In this home, they were looking for no stairs or very few stairs, which was important to them...Wrap around deck...it was nice to work on this project with an owner as creative as this one was."
Jodi Leone is the owner of Velocity Developments. "Well Gregg McGargel is the builder of the property so the concept for these homes is to have very continuous architectural design go throughout the subdivision - basically creates a continuous look of very dark colors."
The property, on South 27th Avenue, adds a very nice feel to the neighborhood according to Leone.
"Our concept for the kitchen was to design a space that you could entertain in," she said. "It does offer a drawer microwave- this is a really unique concept from the safety standpoint because it allows you to place your item in and lift it up, rather than bringing hot liquids down to you."
Project Manager at Heritage Builders, Greg Stratton, said, "Well the outdoor living space has been a very popular feature this year. We have nice privacy fences between the houses. One of the nice features is soft, close drawers and doors on all our cabinets."
On the inside, now we have kidney shelves...the wasted space at the corner of the counters is no longer wasted because you got places to put our stuff and you can access it easily," he said, at a property on Brembrick Street.
Vaughn believes the industry is moving along quite nicely. Leone seconds that.
"Business is wonderful. So far we have listed all of our SouthBridge properties," she said.
Of the four properties they have listed to date, all are currently under contract.
Stratton said, "Demand is up and finished quality is up and that's what the clients deserve."
Echoing the positive vibe, Vaughn adds, "We started a spec house - that's how confident I am in the market. It's the first spec house in five years for us."
14 homes are part of this year's Parade. You can find out more about the Southwest Montana Building Industry Association here.
