Power is still out for more than 500 NorthWestern Energy customers in the Twin Bridges/Sheridan area after a severe storm thrashed the area Thursday afternoon.
Power was restored to much of Butte between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday, according to a NorthWestern Energy press release. The company hopes to have power restored to customers in the Twin Bridges and Sheridan areas by late this morning.
A handful of buildings and a 50-kilivolt transmission line were damaged by Thursday night's storm which swept through the area at around 3:45 p.m. Thursday. The storm uprooted trees, slamming them onto buildings, including several historic structures on and near Main Street in Twin Bridges.
Crews from NorthWestern Energy and several contract crews worked through the night to repair outages in Butte and nearby communities.
Customers in areas other than Twin Bridges or Sheridan that are without power should contact NorthWestern Energy at (888) 467-2669 to report the outages.
