HELENA - We are learning more information about the small plane crash that killed a Helena man last week.
A preliminary report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board states a flight plan was not filed, and the damage indicates there was a high vertical impact.
The pilot, Leonard Andrew Coyle, 51, was killed in the crash with the report stating that witnesses heard the plane change pitch, and then spin about five times before disappearing.
Another witness heard the propellers struggling and then heard a loud bang when it hit the ground.
The final report from the NTSB is not expected for another six to eight months.
