BUTTE-A group of Butte residents, union workers and supporters of fair taxes rallied outside a corporate Butte business in defense of Social Programs Over Tax Cuts.
Montana Organizing Project and at least 3 other groups held a rally outside of Wells-Fargo Bank this afternoon.
The group says if Congress approves a proposed round of tax cuts or the sequester, it could be a disaster for the economy.
They believe this is taking money out of their pockets, and say at the same time corporations like Wells-Fargo reportedly haven't had to pay any amount for new taxes.
The group thinks Wells-Fargo is receiving more money than they pay in.
"What the government needs to do now is not cut the deficit. It needs to invest in job creation, in green energy, in infrastructure. That's why I'm out here," says Butte resident George Waring.
The protesters say tax cuts can hurt senior citizens, the poor and those least able to pay.
