BUTTE - Shooting restrictions are in place in the area of the Copper City Fire.
All forms of shooting in the Copper City area, five miles north of Three Forks, is prohibited starting at noon today, according to the Bureau of Land Management's Butte Field Office. The restriction prohibits discharging any firearm on public lands in the area.
"We always want to keep safety first and we still have firefighters in the Copper City area conducting patrols and mop up activities," said Butte Field Office Manager Scott Haight. "We've already had one fire started due to shooting that burned several hundred acres and conditions remain extremely dry. As soon as fire operations are concluded and the fire risk has passed we'll lift the fire prevention order."
Crews are also working to repair fence and stock water pipeline segments that were destroyed by the fire last weekend.
The Copper City Fire ignited on Sunday, July 21. It burned about 390 acres and is now fully contained.
