BUTTE - Silver Bow County has just finished counting provisional ballots.

Final totals show that in the race for chief executive, Matt Vincent wins by 186 votes. During the count, incumbent Chief Executive Paul Babb gained 43 votes while Vincent gained 76 votes.

There were 16,464 votes cast. The race does not qualify for an automatic recount, nor does it have the .5% difference required for a recount request.

Clerk and Recorder Sandy Hollis expects to know by tomorrow morning if a statewide recount is needed. If that happens, the county will canvas all votes on Monday at 3 p.m. If no statewide recount is needed then Silver Bow County will conduct the routine audit of three randomly picked precincts at 10 a.m. Friday.
