GREAT FALLS - A winter storm is creating very dangerous driving conditions across parts of Montana.

Some of the hardest-hit areas so far include Interstate 15 between Great Falls and Helena, and Montana Highway 200 through Rogers Pass.

The Montana Department of Transportation says that chains are required on towing units along MT-200 from Rogers Pass to the bottom of the east side of the pass.

MDT also says that there are "severe" driving conditions on I-15 from the Lincoln Interchange to 24 miles north Of Helena.

MDT also reports that a two-vehicle collision in the Monarch Canyon near mile marker 53 has closed the northbound lane of Highway 89. Emergency vehicles are on site. Roads are snow-packed and icy. It is not yet known if anyone has been injured.

Drivers are urged to drive defensively, allow extra time to arrive at their destination, and leave plenty of distance between their vehicle and others.
