Stanford woman dies, truck driver injured in crash

GEYSER- A woman died and a semi truck driver was hurt om a crash on Highway 87 near Geyser on Friday night.

Authorities say a 73-year-old woman from Stanford was headed east and a semi truck was headed in the opposite direction at around 9 p.m.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the semi crossed over the center line and the woman tried to avoid the truck but couldn't. The semi struck the sedan, causing the woman to spin into a ditch.

The driver of the semi was a 29-year-old male from Texas. Troopers said he sustained injuries while the woman was flown to Benefis by Mercy Flight, but did not survive.

The accident is still under investigation.
