Representatives at the Marine Corp League Toys for Tots in Butte said the community has been very generous this holiday season.
On Monday, volunteers reportedly distributed 5,000 toys in Butte and the surrounding area, according to Michael Lawson, co-coordinator for Toy for Tots. That number has grown to more than 6,000.
On Christmas Eve volunteers will perform final pickups from collection sites at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Walgreens. The Marine Corp League will keep its doors open to the public until 4p.m. Every child is entitled to four gifts.
Donations are still welcome and they can be delivered to the Marine Corp League building on Garden Avenue.
