A broad elongated mid-level closed low and trough is gradually turning inland into the pacific NW this afternoon and wrap around showers and thunderstorms are developing in far western Montana. There is a chance that a few severe thunderstorms will develop just west of Butte and more likely in the Missoula, Kalispell and Great Falls areas into the evening. For SW Montana this includes Anaconda, Deer Lodge, Drummond, Avon and Seeley Lake.
Some will produce damaging winds up to or over 60 mph and/or hail up to 1" or larger in diameter along with areas of heavy rain and dangerous lightning.
At 2pm we are waiting to see if a Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be posted. Look for frequent updates on our KXLF and KBZK facebook pages.
