United way has prevented 500,000 pounds of recyclable material from ending up in landfills, according to Jamie Boyer, executive director of United Way in Butte and Anaconda. People will have the opportunity to contribute to this cause on Saturday.
United way will have a Dumpster Days recycling Drive starting at 10a.m. to 2p.m., according to Boyer. People may bring their recyclables to three cities: The Butte Plaza Mall, Wal-Mart or the local newspaper.
A & S Metals in Butte will be partnering in this effort. They will accept paper, cardboard, tin cans and plactics. All proceeds will go to United Way.
