At one point a family that lives in the building thought that their dog "sis" had perished in the blaze. Dan Sertich, a Bozeman Firefighter, returned to the apartment and found "sis" in a kennel. She was reunited with her family.

No one is reported injured in a blaze that is burning in an eight-unit apartment building on Bozeman's west side.
The fire began in the complex on Michael Grove Avenue, behind the Gallatin Valley Mall. Eyewitnesses say the fire began on an upper floor deck, but fire officials have not yet confirmed that.
Currently fire units from the Bozeman, Central Valley, Fort Ellis and Rae-Sourdough are on the scene along with the Bozeman Police Department.
Heavy smoke from the fire can be seen as far away as the Four Corners area west of Bozeman.
