According to new information on Saturday's climbing accident in Hyalite Canyon, dispatch received a 911 call at 4:52 p.m. on Saturday informing them that a climber had fallen near Practice Rock.
Officials describe the man as a recreational climber. They say he fell about 30 to 40 feet from Practice Rock in Hyalite Canyon.
Gallatin County Search and Rescue along with the Rae Sourdough Fire department responded to the report.
Officials said the man failed to secure his three anchor points and it took more than 35 rescuers about an hour and a half to get the injured climber off the side of the mountain due to rough terrain.
The man, whose name has not been released, suffered a broken ankle and a head injury and was transported to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
