UPDATE: Man sustains head injury while skiiing at Big Sky Resort

UPDATE 2/16/13, 5:15 pm:A man skiing at Big Sky resort was injured after officials say he struck a base-area building Friday.

Officials say Ski Patrol and a physician immediately responded to the area of the Summit Hotel near the base of the ski run called Tippy's Tumble, for a fallen skier who allegedly struck a base area building.

Details are limited because there were no witnesses were present at the time of the accident.

Patrol and the Big Sky Fire Department treated the man until air medics arrived and flew him St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.


The victim suffered a possible head injury. His condition is currently unknown.


According to Big Sky Resort officials, Big Sky Ski Patrol responded to an injured skier who was discovered at the Summit Hotel near the base of the ski run called Tippy's Tumble.

Resort officials are unsure at this time what exactly happened but say the skier sustained a head injury.

The Big Sky Fire Department assisted in medical treatment and while they could not comment on the condition of the victim or details of the accident, they say the victim was transported by air to the hospital for treatment.

We have reached out to Big Sky Resort Ski Patrol and are currently waiting for a response.
