Officials reported Sunday that the Jefferson Acres fire near Silver Star, appears to be completely out.
We initially reported the fire was caused by a controlled burn that got out of hand, but now, officials have ruled that out.
Madison County Emergency Management director, Chris Mumme, says there was no controlled burn at the time of the fire and the cause remains under investigation. Mumme say it doesn't appear the fire was set intentionally, but if the investigation shows the fire was human caused, fire crews will try to recoup some of the financial losses incurred from fighting the fire.
When crews arrived on scene Sunday morning, they walked the perimeter of the fire, putting out the last of the hotspots and addressed a small flare-up.
Twin Bridges fire with Chief Lloyd Carlson, will continue to monitor the area over the next couple of days and have advised residents to call with any concerns.
