Update: Homestake Pass at 11:30pm is hazardous to travel over with heavy wet snow accumulations this evening. Snowplows are working hard to clear the roads.
John Sherer traveled over the pass between 11pm and midnight and reports conditions are very slick.
Semi trucks are backed up in the chain up areas and several have slide off the road and attempting to chain up. The back log of semi trucks is cuasing a chain reaction and folks are waiting for conditions to improve before traveling over the pass.
John reports you can make it over the pass but it's slow going and all wheel drive is helpful.
Chains are required for towing units over Homestake pass and for eastbound lanes over Cottonwood Hill East of Cardwell on I-90.
There is a Winter Storm Warning above 5,500' tonight into Thursday morning for all of SW Montana. 6"-12" of snow is possible.
