The victim of Friday's accident near Townsend has been identified as 18-year-old Dakota Kimbrough.
He passed away after the 1976 Ford truck he was riding in rolled down an embankment.
Kimbrough was a senior starter football player for Broadwater high school.
He was traveling with three other teammates when the driver lost control coming around the corner of a gravel road.
Montana Highway Patrol was dispatched to Highway 284 near Ray Creek Road around 3:20 p.m. on Friday.
Trooper Meskimen said the car rolled three-quarters of the way down the embankment and two passengers including Kimbrough were ejected. Neither were wearing seat-belts.
Kimbrough was pronounced dead on scene and the other three in the truck have since been treated and released from the Broadwater County Hospital.
All homecoming activities were cancelled and counseling services have been made available at the high school for anyone who needs them.
