GREAT FALLS - A jury found man guilty of attempted deliberate homicide for throwing pipe bombs at law enforcement officers during a chase near Belt last November.
Laurence Stewart of Virginia was found guilty on all seven charges of attempted deliberate homicide.
Stewart was arrested near Belt on Nov. 1, 2012 after leading Montana Highway Patrol troopers on a 40-mile chase in a stolen car.
During closing arguments on Monday, County Attorney John Parker reviewed evidence presented during the trial that he says proves Stewart's guilt in attempting to kill seven law officers.
"Just because he tried and failed doesn't mean he is innocent," Parker said. "He built his intent in every bomb, full of hex nuts, shrapnel, gunpowder and screws."
Parker told the jury that Stewart intended to kill the officers not just hurt them.
