BUTTE -- A volleyball tournament organized for Mariah's Challenge raised more than $1,000, according to Patrick O'Rourke, founder of Mining City Volleyball.

Mining City Volleyball hosted the tournament at Montana Tech on Saturday and Sunday. All of the proceeds went to the Mariah's Challenge Foundation, according to O'Rourke. Mariah's Challenge is a scholarship fund dedicated to the prevention of underage drinking and driving.

Nineteen teams registered for the tournament. People traveled from Seattle and Spokane, Washington to participate. O'Rourke hopes to make this an annual event for Mining City Volleyball and Mariah's Challenge.
