A Marine from the Ronan area is making his way through northwest Montana today raising awareness for veterans who have paid the ultimate price.
Chuck Lewis of Ronan is currently walking across America for "Walking for the Fallen~USA."
He should be arriving in Kalispell at the Sportsmans Ski Haus around 6 p.m. Friday before taking a short rest at his home in Ronan.
On Tuesday, Lewis leaves from Kalispell again to start the next leg of his trip across America.
Lewis' goal is to make it all the way to the Vietnams Vets Memorial in Washington DC.
Today he was walking near Lewis about five miles north of Kila. He explained why this walk means so much to him.
"Well, I'm a Marine Corps veteran. I served in Vietnam. I served from 1970 to 1974, and in recent years, I just really haven't been too happy with the way the patriotic level has been. So, I decided that rather than be an armchair quarterback, I thought let's get out and do something about it," Lewis said.
