LACEY, Wash. - A Lacey, Washington community is in mourning after a young boy was allegedly taken from his home to Montana and murdered by his father.
The body of Brody Cramer was found near Anaconda on Tuesday morning. While Anaconda law enforcement says the boy is 4 years old, KIRO 7 in Seattle reports the boy is 3 years old.
Brody was reportedly taken from the family's home at around 9 a.m. Monday by his father, Jeremy Brent Cramer, 38.
On Tuesday, at the home on Lacey's Southwick Lake, toys still sat in the front yard and family members gathered to comfort the boy's mother, Natalie Cramer, KIRO 7 reports.
Neighbors couldn't believe Jeremy Cramer was accused of killing his son.
Next door neighbor, Abdul Kahn told KIRO 7, "I am horrified. It's hard to believe that this can happen."
Kahn said he watched Cramer take his son out on the lake in a row boat.
The incident began unfolding in Anaconda Monday night when Anaconda-Deer Lodge Law Enforcement officers were called to a local convenience store at around 10:30 p.m. after a clerk reportedly saw a man trying to wash blood off his body and clothes in the restroom, according to a press release from authorities.
An investigation by Anaconda-Deer Lodge Law Enforcement determined that the man had left with his from Lacey, Washington, likely as part of a custodial dispute.
The Anaconda-Deer Lodge Law Enforcement Agency found the man's vehicle five miles southeast of town on Montana Secondary Highway 569, but the boy was not found at the time. At daybreak Tuesday, authorities began searching again and found the boy's body.
Jeremy Cramer is charged with deliberate homicide as well as misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He appeared in court Tuesday afternoon. He is being held on a $250,000 bond at the Anaconda-Deer Lodge jail.
His preliminary hearing is set for July 30.
Details of the murder are not being released at this time.
