BOZEMAN - After days of deliberation and debate about whether they would show up to begin with, members of the Westboro Baptist Church were seen protesting on the Montana State University campus, as per their announcement.
Ever since they announced on their website that they would be picketing MSU and Bozeman High, groups has been gearing up for ways to disengage them and hold counter-protests.
The ACLU of Montana held a marshal training on Sunday to prepare citizens in peacefully countering Westboro's controversial, in-your-face messages.
While exact numbers are not known as yet, scores of people turned up to hold anti-protests just across from where members of the Westboro Baptist Church were holding up signs that read, "Bloody Obama" and "America is doomed" among others that asked for the death penalty for gay people.
In peaceful retaliation, the anti-protestors held up their own signs which had slogans like, "I love my gay son" and "I love all the colors of the rainbow".
The hugely popular red equal sign was also spotted among anti-protestors.
We will have more information on the details of both protests shortly.
