WHITEFISH - More folks than ever hit the slopes at Whitefish Mountain Resort during the recently closed ski season.
Resort officials report they logged nearly 323,000 total visits during their 65th season, marking just the third time that the mountain has seen 300,000 or more skiers. The most popular day was Dec. 30 where a single-day record of 7,165 was set.
Whitefish Mountain Resort Director of Sales and Marketing Nick Polumbus says attributes this record number of skiers to value.
"We know that our guests have a number of choices available and a big reason they are coming here is the value we represent. We're dedicated to creating a high quality affordable ski experience."
Most of the out-of-state visits to Whitefish came from Alberta, Washington, Minnesota, Saskatchewan, Oregon, North Dakota and Manitoba.
Resort officials add that local residents make up roughly half of the skiing population at Whitefish Mountain Resort.
