BOZEMAN - Strong winds knocked down power lines, impacted travel and caused other problems throughout Bozeman today.
Power outages were reported this afternoon at Bozeman High School and nearby businesses, including about 55 NorthWestern Energy customers. Stoplights at 15th and Main and in front of the high school were also affected. This afternoon a pole is leaning against a building in the area. Crews are on scene working on it.
Also, the Bozeman Swim Center is closed due to a power outage from the windstorm. The pool will be closed for the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, the northbound lane of 19th Avenue has reopened after a power pole broke along the busy roadway earlier today.
NorthWestern Energy started getting calls around 6 a.m., which they have been working all day to respond to, a company representative said. At this time, they do not know how many total customers have been affected.
Tune in at 5:30 p.m. for more on today's wind event and its effects.
