BILLINGS - Ryan Zinke announced on Monday that he is entering the race to become Montana's sole member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
A small crowd gathered at the Crown Plaza in Billings in support of Zinke's announcement.
Zinke, a Republican, plans to travel across Montana in the coming months to talk about his goals.
"I believe Montanans should have a say in how their state is run," Zinke said.
Zinke is a former Montana state senator from Whitefish.
His political career also includes serving as the running mate in Neil Livingstone's gubernatorial bid in the 2012 Republican primary.
Zinke is a veteran of the United States Navy and former commander of Navy SEAL Team Six.
Last week, Matt Rosendale of Glendive, also a Republican, announced his candidacy for the House seat, which is currently held by Steve Daines (R).
Other candidates officially in the race include Republican Corey Stapleton and Democrat John Lewis.
